Hurricane Beryl – Inclement Weather Policy

Updates:

7/12/2024:
All properties in Jamaica are operating as usual and the Inclement Weather Policy is no longer in effect.

7/9/2024:
All properties in Mexico are fully operational and the Inclement Weather Policy is no longer in effect.

7/8/2024:
All properties in Jamaica are operational with the exception of Jewel Grande, which will fully open on July 9, 2024.

7/5/2024:
All properties in Cancun and Playa del Carmen, Mexico are fully operational although cleanup is ongoing. 

Out of an abundance of caution for our guests and staff, Playa properties in Jamaica are closed for arrivals through Sunday. This will allow our staff to complete ongoing cleanup and handle relocations from sister properties.

7/2/2024:
Due to Hurricane Beryl, Sangster International Airport will temporarily close Tuesday, July 2, at 11:59 PM. The airport will remain closed throughout Wednesday, July 3.

Inclement Weather Policy In effect for all Jamaica properties (Hyatt Zilara & Ziva Rose Hall, Hilton Rose Hall, Jewel Grande, Jewel Paradise Cove)

Guests In Destination: 

  • For any guests at the resort who opt to depart early prior to a named tropical storm or hurricane, early departure penalties will be waived for 72 hours before impact. 

  • Guests who are unable to depart a Playa resort as scheduled because of flight cancellations or airport closures, shall be offered a stay at discounted rates. Hotel rates are based in USD on a per person/per night basis, single and extra adults will follow Playa Hotels & Resorts’ distress rate pricing structure. These rates are payable directly to each hotel, even if the original booking was made through a third party. 

Guests unable to arrive: 

  • No-show/cancellation fees WILL be waived for guests who are unable to arrive as scheduled due to storm-related flight cancellation. Guests must contact their Tour Operator/Travel Agency/Hotel directly to cancel and to re-book their reservation. 

  • Guests may re-book at original rates based on availability for arrival before December 18, 2025. In case reservation is made for dates with lower rates, the prevailing rate for those dates will be honored for the same number of nights as the original reservation. 

  • If the guest does not contact the Hotel or Tour Operator/Travel Agency prior to scheduled arrival, the No-show/cancellation fees will not be waived. 

  • Guests arriving within a day or two of the storm may shift their reservations accordingly based on availability. 

  • Guests arriving after the storm, but not able to completely shift their dates (due to work, school etc.) may continue their stay through their original departure date, being charged only for the dates that they stayed.
